How To Make Your Waist Appear Smaller

Tracey Evelyn Personal Shopper Waist Appear Smaller                                                           22 Faubourg Dress

Want to know how to make your waist appear smaller? Who doesn’t want that hour glass silhouette? Yes, you can minimize  the appearance of your waistline with a few pieces you already own.   Check out these fashion tips that help your waist to appear thinner:
1.  Wear the proper underwear or shape-wear.
Shape-wear is a fabulous way to disguise your less perfect parts and create a gorgeous silhouette.  Your underwear and shape-wear should be comfortable, non noticeable, and smooth’s where needed.  Shape-wear should target the areas of concern and provide body-shaping control that is both comfy and flattering.

2.  Make it Pop!
Highlight the areas you love. Add detail and color where you want the attention , to take the attention away from your waistline.  For example: If you love your shoulders, wear garments that draw the attention upward. Wear ruching, lace, beading, gathers, ruffles or bright colors in the neckline or shoulders to draw the attention upward and enhance the appearance of the shoulders. These sorts of details provide a visual boost and help to make the highlighted area more visually appealing.

3.  Camouflage your problem areas

One of my favorite and more versatile pieces is the wrap dress and tops that wrap at the waist.   They  create a more  defined waistline, enhance the bust size and slims the waist.  Ruched Tops and dresses are  also amazing, the gathered detail gives style, makes the waist look slimmer and disguises imperfections. Try to go for quality here because these pieces will go along way. You will find yourself reaching for these pieces over and over again.

4.  Color blocking.
It’s amazing how color placement can change your entire look. Go for side panels in black to create a waist slimming look. Dark colors make your heavy sections look small.  The black side panels detracts the waist and does the contouring for you.
5Belt it!
Adding a belt can change the look of an outfit.  Wearing a belt at the thinnest part of your waist or your true waistline will pull your waistline in and create an illusion of an hourglass silhouette.
6.  Be confident and Stand up straight
Body language can tell someone a lot about your mood and confidence level.   Standing up straight can not only improve your posture, it can help  you to appear taller, therefore make your waist appear thinner and help you to appear more confident.

Just comb your eyebrow hairs up and snip off (use small scissors) any hairs that are too long.

How to Dress the Inverted Triangle Body Shape

How to Dress the Inverted Triangle Body Shape

The inverted triangle tends to be the most athletic looking among the different body shapes.   Shoulders are wider than your hips, by a good couple of inches.   Your hips look straight given that your shoulders are broad and you have little to no waist definition.

The goal of dressing the inverted triangle body shape is to create the illusion of a hour glass figure by balancing out the wide top, minimising your shoulders and back, enhance your hips and highlight your legs.

Play down the top:

Tops should draw attention downward away from the shoulders.

V neck, wrap style and vertical lines in the bodice all draw attention downward.

Jackets should be narrow at the shoulders and widest at the hips.

Wear Tailored shirts and jackets.

Wear dark colored tops.

Vertical lines created with accessories will draw the attention downward

Monochromatic colors in draped styles will lengthen the body.

Play up the bottom:

Wear a belt, it will accent your waist

Choose bottoms that enhance and flatter your lower body.

Strong visual details below the waist will draw the attention downward.

Wear pants with pockets and embellishment.

Wear wide leg or boot cut pants.

Wear a full or A-line skirt.

Wear horizontal lines on the bottom half.

Add volume with thicker fabrics on the bottom with fabrics like knit, wool or tweed.

Show off those great legs with a great pair of pumps.

Stay away from shoes with straps, they will shorten your legs.

Choosing the Right Sunglasses to Compliment Your Face Shape

Finding the right sunglasses can be as important as choosing the right makeup.  It is important to think about size, shape, color and the way the bridge affects the look of your eyes and nose.   The shape of the frames should correspond with the shape of the face:

Oval Shaped Face

The oval shaped face looks great with just about any shape of sun glass frame.

Round Shaped Face

A round face with with full cheeks, should go for a frame that makes your face appear to be thinner.   Usually  frames that are equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of  your face will make the face appear thinner. Softly angular frames play up an oval face. Higher temples will create a longer profile.

Square Face Shape

The square face shape has fairly straight lines at the cheeks and an obvious square jaw.  To soften these angular features, opt for glasses with soft lines or rimless  edges or reduce the angles with soft, curvy styles that will give the face some definition such as cat-eye sun glass styles.

Heart Shaped Face

The heart shaped face or inverted triangle is characterized by wide cheekbones and a narrow jaw line.  The goal is to minimize the width of the cheekbones(this can be achieved by wearing a relatively dark frame that fits close to the head to make the upper half of the face look more in proportion).  Round frames balance and soften a wide forehead.

Oblong Face Shape

The oblong shaped face tends to have a long face; narrow chin and cheeks.  Oversize sunglasses or wrap styles tend to look best on this face shape.  Decorative or contrasting temples add width to the face.

Sunglasses are also more than a fashion statement.  They should give proper and adequate protection from harmful sun rays.
