Pink, Pumps & Pearls- Empowering Women

What is most important to most in life? The answer will change throughout life but, one of the top  answers is how we feel about one’s self.   Empowerment  is the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.  Education and empowerment can modify women’s beliefs about her health and future.  It represents how we have the opportunity to gain a sense of control.  That’s why we are so excited about what the Health Empowerment Network is bringing to the community and women. We got the opportunity to talk to Dr. Shatfeah Morrison about the Health Empowerment Network, their mission and how Pink, Pumps and Pearls plans to empower women.  I couldn’t wait to see what Pink, Pumps and Pearls is all about:

Tracey- I love the name!  Can you tell us what Pink, Pumps and Pearls is about?

The parable of the Pearl is one of Jesus’ parables. The kingdom of Heaven is likened to a merchant man, seeking Godly pearls: Who, when he found one pearl of great price he went and sold all they he had, and bought it. A pearl is a fine and valuable treasure needing no polishing or cutting by man. It comes to us illustrious and complete, created by God through nature; so it is with Mother’s,

In honor of Mother’s across South Florida and beyond, we a hoping to provide a breast health awareness event that will last long beyond Mother’s Day. It is our goal to educate and empower women to become more health conscious, focusing on prevention.

Tracey- How did the idea come about?

We wanted to present an important initiative and partner with local organizations to educate the general public on prevention and screening.

Tracey- What is the mission of the Health Empowerment Network?

The mission of the Community Health and Empowerment Network is to partner with the community and provide resources and education in the Miami-Dade and Broward counties. We are working to provide charitable empowerment, health education/awareness and preventative services to underserved populations, hoping to reduce and bridge gaps in health disparities.

Tracey- In what ways can feeling empowered affect a woman’s personal view of herself or her visual brand?Shafeah:

Empowered women seek to understand. They are able to empower others to be educated regarding their health, from a physical, mental, spiritual and emotional standpoint. An empowered woman looks to identify her individual, holistic care.

Tracey- In today’s fast paced society how important are words of affirmation to you?

I’m in the business of changing lives, one woman at a time. That affirms and drives my passion.

Tracey- Why did the Health Empowerment Network decide to celebrate mothers?

We love Mom’s:). We are also presenting awards to moms at this very special event, taking place on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. The awards are categorical, from the community service mom award to the Entrepreneurial mom award.  It was an appropriate population to honor for this time of year.

Tracey- Where do you see Health Empowerment Network in the future?

National Offices; bridging the wellness gap.
