6 Simple Steps To Healthy Skin

6 Simple steps to healthy skin

If you are like most folks, then you probably desire radiant looking skin. Healthy, glowing skin is the ideal form of beautiful skin.  Some of us are fortunate enough to have fantastic genes and have great looking skin. While some of us have to put a little work in to maintain a healthy glow.  We can’t control our genes but we can control our environment to a great degree. Proper skin care can go a long way in improving your overall beauty, good health and it can also affect your self-confidence. Here are 6 simple steps to healthy skin:

  1. Cleanse, Tone & Moisturize

Cleanse, tone and moisturize two times a day. Follow these steps once in the morning before you put on makeup and once at night before you go to bed. Choose a cleanser and moisturizer specific to your skin type.

  1. Exfoliation

Exfoliation encourages the sloughing off of dead skin cells, stimulates circulation and blood flow which in turn promotes healthy looking skin.  Wash or rub gently with a granular substance to remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and promote a healthy glow.

  1.  Sunblock, Sunblock, oh did I say Sunblock

Sunblock acts as a protective shield against the harmful UV rays which penetrates the skin each time your skin is exposed to the sun. The sun gives off ultraviolet light that damages the skin and can cause sunburn. Over time, these rays can lead to wrinkles, dark spots, and other problem areas.  Apply a sunblock with a UVA and UVB of at least SPF15.

  1. Drink to beautiful skin

Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins. Water flushes toxins from the body and transports nutrients to where they are needed. Celebrities often claim it’s the secret behind their supple, glowing, always camera-ready skin.

  1. Eat more of what is good for you and less of what is not!

Your skin is the largest organ of your body.  What you eat can affect the health of your skin as well as the rest of your body. To keep your skin in optimal condition, fill your plate with fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods.

  1. Get some sleep!

Getting adequate sleep is important to give the body and skin time to repair  and rejuvenate itself. When you are tired the blood in your body is not flowing efficiently which normally results in a lack of oxygen in the blood. Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you sleep, which means you wake to a healthy glow.

4 Reasons To Add A Face Serum To Your Skin Care Routine

4 reasons to add a face serum to your skin care routine

Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Anti Aging Serum

Every where you turn there is a magazine or a commercial is busy suggesting you use this or that product.  Lets face it, we have a counter full of products that we don’t even use or know how to use. Let me share one little step in your skin routine that will blow you away.  Add a Face Serum!!!  A face serum is like the workhorse, there to improve the overall look of your complexion. They can make a difference between dull and radiant skin.  Here are 4 reasons to add a face serum to your skin care routine:

1.  You must understand the importance of serums

Serums are usually formulated with a higher concentration of active ingredients so that a few drops are sufficient to cover the entire face.  They are packed with turbo-charged ingredients designed to penetrate skin in a way  an everyday moisturizers can’t. The main reason that you should use a facial serum is to get added nutrients into deeper layers of your skin that a regular moisturizer is not able to reach. Each face serum may be aimed at solving a specific problem such as anti-aging, hydration, skin brightening, etc. To get the best results for your skin after cleansing, toning and moisturizing, add a face serum(just before moisturizing) to your daily skin care routine.

2.  Your serum should be working for you

Instead of being heavy like a moisturizer,  serums are light in weight using the extra space to pack in higher concentration of beneficial ingredients  and antioxidants that fight free radicals that damage the skin.  In essence serums are lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. You can’t have too many antioxidants in your skin care routine now can you?

3.  Don’t be afraid to add layers

A serum won’t replace your daytime or night time moisturizer, but they will be extra nourishment for your skin under your moisturizer.  When it comes to anti-aging and healthy skin that extra layer of protection will really pack a punch! Serums are simply an added step for those who are looking to go the extra mile in their daily skin care routines

4.  Try wearing it alone

A well-formulated serum may work well as a double-duty product that can be used as a stand-alone product for someone with oilier skin, or used under a moisturizer for someone with normal to dry skin.  It is important to use face serums at night, because UV rays and oxygen can cause them to oxidize.
