6 Simple steps to healthy skin

If you are like most folks, then you probably desire radiant looking skin. Healthy, glowing skin is the ideal form of beautiful skin.  Some of us are fortunate enough to have fantastic genes and have great looking skin. While some of us have to put a little work in to maintain a healthy glow.  We can’t control our genes but we can control our environment to a great degree. Proper skin care can go a long way in improving your overall beauty, good health and it can also affect your self-confidence. Here are 6 simple steps to healthy skin:

  1. Cleanse, Tone & Moisturize

Cleanse, tone and moisturize two times a day. Follow these steps once in the morning before you put on makeup and once at night before you go to bed. Choose a cleanser and moisturizer specific to your skin type.

  1. Exfoliation

Exfoliation encourages the sloughing off of dead skin cells, stimulates circulation and blood flow which in turn promotes healthy looking skin.  Wash or rub gently with a granular substance to remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and promote a healthy glow.

  1.  Sunblock, Sunblock, oh did I say Sunblock

Sunblock acts as a protective shield against the harmful UV rays which penetrates the skin each time your skin is exposed to the sun. The sun gives off ultraviolet light that damages the skin and can cause sunburn. Over time, these rays can lead to wrinkles, dark spots, and other problem areas.  Apply a sunblock with a UVA and UVB of at least SPF15.

  1. Drink to beautiful skin

Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins. Water flushes toxins from the body and transports nutrients to where they are needed. Celebrities often claim it’s the secret behind their supple, glowing, always camera-ready skin.

  1. Eat more of what is good for you and less of what is not!

Your skin is the largest organ of your body.  What you eat can affect the health of your skin as well as the rest of your body. To keep your skin in optimal condition, fill your plate with fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods.

  1. Get some sleep!

Getting adequate sleep is important to give the body and skin time to repair  and rejuvenate itself. When you are tired the blood in your body is not flowing efficiently which normally results in a lack of oxygen in the blood. Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you sleep, which means you wake to a healthy glow.

6 Simple Tips To Hand Cleaning Your Cashmere Sweater

As  lover of cashmere, I find it a foundation piece that is worth the investment. High quality classic pieces will look nicer and last longer.  Don’t be discouraged by the care tag.  If you can’t make it to the dry cleaners hand washing cashmere is an option.  Hand washing can help cashmere maintain its softness.  Here are 6 simple tips to hand cleaning your cashmere sweater:
 
1.  Use tepid to room temperature water. Be sure to not use hot water it may shrink your wool.

2.  Be sure to use a mild detergent like woolite or baby shampoo.

3.  Turn clothes inside out before washing. (helps to prevent colors from fading)

4.  Dip, dunk and press out the excess water but, do not twist the fabric.

5.  Use a large salad spinner to spin off excess water.

6.  Lay sweater flat on a clean towel to dry  and let air dry.

Gratitude Looks Good On You

While visiting family in Chicago I went to a church service.  I was completely  blown away by the message about gratitude.  I couldn’t help to think about how most of us want more out of life.   I immediately thought about how gratitude is a choice.  Wow! we can choose to be grateful.  It may take some work but, we can change our mindset and what a difference a simple change can make in our lives.  It’s never too late to set a goal or to dream.  Nine times out of ten, we don’t realize how much control we have over our future.  We have the power to take control over who we become.  If we don’t, we run the risk of not reaching our full potential. There is no better time than like the present to reinvent yourself.  If you are like most of us we are constantly looking for ways to improve or to reinvent ourselves.

Reinvention –

To remake or make over in a different form

A great place to start in our reinvention process is with gratitude.  Gratitude can help just about any transition in life become so much smoother.  Think about gratitude as a form of self care.

the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness

Being grateful is available to everyone, it’s free of charge and can be implemented right away.  Here are a five benefits of showing more gratitude:
