Choosing the Right Sunglasses to Compliment Your Face Shape

Finding the right sunglasses can be as important as choosing the right makeup.  It is important to think about size, shape, color and the way the bridge affects the look of your eyes and nose.   The shape of the frames should correspond with the shape of the face:

 

Oval Shaped Face 

The oval shaped face looks great with just about any shape of sun glass frame.

 

 

 

 

 

Round Shaped Face

A round face with with full cheeks, should go for a frame that makes your face appear to be thinner.   Usually  frames that are equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of  your face will make the face appear thinner. Softly angular frames play up an oval face. Higher temples will create a longer profile.

 

 

 

 

 

Square Face Shape

The square face shape has fairly straight lines at the cheeks and an obvious square jaw.  To soften these angular features, opt for glasses with soft lines or rimless  edges or reduce the angles with soft, curvy styles that will give the face some definition such as cat-eye sun glass styles. 

 

 

 

 

 

Heart Shaped Face

The heart shaped face or inverted triangle is characterized by wide cheekbones and a narrow jaw line.  The goal is to minimize the width of the cheekbones(this can be achieved by wearing a relatively dark frame that fits close to the head to make the upper half of the face look more in proportion).  Round frames balance and soften a wide forehead.

 

 

 

 

Oblong Face Shape

The oblong shaped face tends to have a long face; narrow chin and cheeks.  Oversize sunglasses or wrap styles tend to look best on this face shape.  Decorative or contrasting temples add width to the face.

 

 

 

 

Sunglasses are also more than a fashion statement.  They should give proper and adequate protection from harmful sun rays.
