Lighten Up !

Uneven skin tone or hyperpigmentation got you down?  Hyperpigmentation is a condition in which areas of the skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.  Hyperpigmentation can be caused by sun damage, acne, inflammation and other skin injuries.   Hyperpigmentation can affect any race or skin type, but individuals with skin of color have a higher risk of developing it and a more prolonged recovery period simply because they have more pigment-producing cells.  The first line of defense against any type of hyperpigmentation is sunblock (15 spf or higher) .  Avoid exposing your skin to direct sunlight. Use sunscreen heavily to protect your skin and help retain its tone.  Here are five at home remedies to brighten, lighten and relieve uneven skin tones:

1.  Cut a lemon in half and rub it onto the area of your you wish to lighten.  Leave it on for 10-15 minutes.  Rinse the area with lukewarm water

2.  Lemon juice with a bit of yogurt once a day is an excellent mild bleach.  Rinse area with lukewarm water.

3.  Pour some Milk into a bowl, saturate a cotton round or a wash cloth and rub it generously around your face.  Milk is a natural skin bleacher.  Rinse area with lukewarm water.

4.  Cut the papaya into small chunks and blend.  Apply the papaya pulp to face and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.  Rinse off  with lukewarm water.

5.  Mix 2 tbsp of flour in a bowl and add a pinch of turmeric.  Add a few drops of milk  to form a paste. Apply as a mask.  Rinse off with lukewarm water.
Caution:  Do not expect instant results.  Whenever skin-lightening products are being used they should be  accompanied by proper use of a full-spectrum sun sunblock.

3 Simple Home Remedies to Relieve Dry Feet

3 Simple Home Remedies to Relieve Dry Feet

Do you suffer from dry feet?  It’s that time of year when your feet need a little extra love and care.  Dry feet can creep up on you at any time of the year causing you to feel uncomfortable and insecure.   Turbo charge and condition those beautiful  tootsies with a few  inexpensive ingredients that you already have at home.

Here are 3 Simple home remedies to relieve dry feet:

Soak your feet

Create a soothing foot soak with Epsom Salts and warm water.  Epsom salt is loaded with magnesium, detoxifies,  soothe aches and soften rough skin.  Add 1/2 cup  of Epsom salt to a large pan of warm water. Soak feet for as long as you like.  Rinse and  moisturize while the feet are still damp.  Moisturize with a little Shea butter  or olive oil.   Add a little lavender or peppermint oil and off you go.

Exfoliation

Sugar scrub  is one of the  easiest  ways to exfoliate and repair dry skin.  Mix sugar ( brown sugar is my favorite),  olive oil and (optional) an essential oil  like lavender or peppermint.  Rub the sweet concoction all over your feet.  Be sure to give a little love and attention to the heels of your feet.  Rinse and rub in a little olive oil while feet are still damp.  Place a pair of socks to lock in the moisture.  Go to sleep and remove in the morning.

Moisturize

Head to your kitchen cabinet to find out out you had them all along.  The ingredients to naturally moisturize your dry, cracked feet. Rub a cotton round moistened with extra virgin olive oil all over your feet. Work the oil into the skin using a circular motion.  After applying the olive oil, slip on a pair of cozy cotton socks. This allows the oil to soak into your skin. Remove your  socks in about 2 hours.

Make-up while working out!

Ok, I would like to think that I am not vain.  But, it does matter to me what I look like, no matter what I am doing.  You know what I’m talking about!  It’s time of year when everyone hits the gym.  It’s always better to go au natural when working out, but some women still insist on getting gussied up before hitting the gym.

If you don’t want to go out bare face to the gym, here are a few helpful tips to adopt to look good and feel more confident while working out:

*  Pull your hair back into a clean and simple ponytail, knot or braid.  Be sure to tame the fly aways. Try not use too much hair product, it seeps when you start to sweat.

*  Be sure to start with a clean face…. Use a cleanser specific to your skin type. Don’t forget to tone and moisturize too!

*  Avoid foundation…..try a tinted moisturizer or a mineral powder. They will allow your skin to breath while supplying a little color for a healthy looking skin.

*  Curl your Lashes first then use a Waterproof mascara, it is a must have and will stay put through a strenuous workout! No time for mascara? Try semi-permanent eye lash extensions, they last for weeks  &  no-one will know their not yours.

*  Use a lip tinted lip balm or a lip stain to accentuate your lips, try to keep it natural…… just have fun and keep it light.

I do believe than when you look good you feel good! Feeling good can make you feel more motivated to work out.
