7 Easy Ways To Update Your Style

Whether you are running a small business, heading out with girls, or going on a hot date  you are sending a message about yourself.  The first time you meet someone they have formed an opinion about you in a matter of seven seconds based on your appearance alone.  With a few simple steps you can send a positive message and make a great first impression.  If you want to be more memorable you have to step up your game.  Your don’t have to look like you stepped out of Vogue Magazine but investing in your look shows that you care about who you are and how you look.  Here is  a list of 7  easy ways to update your style:

  1.  Clean out your closet

People tend to hold onto clothes until the closet is overflowing.  Ask yourself: Does this piece represent who you are? Make three piles: one for items that fit well and look great on,  one for items that  no longer work or are appropriate for your image and one for items that need altered.  Clearing out clutter helps you determine what you still need.  Decide what is working for you and what is not.  Shop for pieces like jackets, pants, skirts and tops to add to your now revised closet.  These pieces will give you a variety of looks for different occasions.

  1.  Wear undergarments that enhance your body shape

Wearing the right underwear or body shaper for your body type is essential. For the best results choose well fitting undergarments that will enhance your body shape and figure.  Be sure to choose features and benefits over color and brand.  Choose the right size and look for quality fabric.  If you need a little help determining your bra size head on over to places like Nordstrom or Victoria Secret for a bra fitting.  Don’t forget that what you wear underneath your  clothes also makes a big difference to the way you feel!

  1.  Build around classic wardrobe pieces

Classic wardrobe pieces seem to never go out of fashion no matter what the current trends are. These classic basics are versatile and can be mixed, matched and layered to create a variety of looks. These essentials never seem to go out of style (Black turtleneck, little black dress, a jacket the defines your waist, white T-shirt, white button down shirt, pencil skirt, cardigan, trench coat, pea coat, solid colored stretch shirt, tank top, black slacks, black pumps, khakis, riding boots, pearl necklace, pearl or diamond stud earrings and a pair of jeans). Your wardrobe should consist of both the old and new classics.

  1.  Accessorize

The art of accessorizing is the secret to looking great in even the most basic clothes. Update your look with  variety of accessory styles that will bring color and character to the  outfit. Don’t be afraid to:  mix textures and prints, add bold colors, add a belt, rock a shiny clutch, wear junky jewelry, accessorize your hair or slip into a pair of sassy heels. Buy pieces that express your personality and remember not to overdo it.  Stick with one statement piece at a time.

5. Add a few trendy pieces

Buy a few trendy pieces to your wardrobe but try not to spend too much money since they only last a little while, then go out of style. To avoid looking like everyone else mix your trendy pieces with classic pieces. Try to stick to one to two trends in an outfit. Too many trends in one outfit will be way too busy.  Add pops of color to update outfits for the season without overdoing it.

6. Makeup and skincare

Bold lips are a classic way to add both impact and femininity to your look.  Your nails may seem like minor details, but they say a lot about you. Your skin is another important part of your body so treat it kindly with care, exfoliate and your skin will glow for you. Apply a face mask at least once a week.  Bold brows, minimal makeup and experimenting with color always works.

  1.  Try a new hair style

Give your hair a makeover, you don’t have to do any drastic changes, simple highlights or hair blow out makes an amazing difference. Just try moving the part from on side of the head to the other, this simple change can make it look as if you have a whole new hairstyle.  Try parting your hair on an angle, or creating a zigzag part for a funky look.  Consider going for bangs they create a dramatic difference.  This is quick and inexpensive!

* I get it!  You may be asking yourself does what I wear really matter? Sometimes you just don’t know where to start  when it comes to your wardrobe.  No more standing in your closet aimlessly. Think Out Of The Box With Culottes

Think out of the box with culottes……

Ok, so culottes can at first seem somewhat intimidating.  They are a fun wide leg pant that can compliment most body shapes.  I know they are a little different silhouette than we are used to, but they are not as unflattering as one would think.  Culottes come in a variety of fabrics such as denim, leather, wool and the list goes on.  The key to looking fabulous in the culottes is finding the length that is most flattering for your figure.  Culottes come in a variety of lengths so there is no excuse for not trying a pair.  If you are petite try a pair above the knee.  If you don’t want to go short there are always the below the knee, mid calf or just above the ankle length options.  Work them with a pair of flats, heels, strappy’s  or boots.  They can be worn for a casual look  (pair with flats or sneaks) or as a more formal look (paired with a pair of heels).  When worn right, they look super chic!

Who Was Most Fabulous At The 2014 Grammy Music Awards

Who Was Most Fabulous At The 2014 Grammy Music Awards

You could not ask for a more compelling host for the 2014 Grammy Awards show hosted by LL Cool J.   LL kicked off the awards ceremony with a super big smile, a little history for the crowd and poetic wisdom.  Not to mention LL Cool J look absolutely royal in a purple velvet tuxedo jacket and of course his signature hat!  LL started out with what he says music can do for us.  Music can:

*  Free us

*  Moves us

*  Warms us

The stunner of the night was Beyoncé  performing ” Drunk in Love” with her super star husband JayZ.  She graced the stage with a smoking hot performance in a seductive cut away, semi-sheer body suit rocking her latest wet and wavy bob hair style. It’s clear that she truly no stranger to the gym!  Later during the star studded evening  Beyoncé appeared in a breath taking semi-sheer  white floral laced Michael Costello gown . It was clearly a crowd pleaser. Taylor Swift shined as well in a gold gown designed by Gucci. It was truly a fabulous and  highly entertaining night.

3 Simple Ways To Add A Tea Length Skirt To Your Daily Wardrobe

3 simple ways to add a Tea Length skirt to your daily wardrobe

The Tea length skirt is  forever chic and one of my favorite 2014 spring fashion trends.  A Tea length is a fashion term used to describe a mid-length skirt hem that hits at the calf or shin. The tea length skirt is slightly flared with a narrow waist . The tea length skirt is a simple way to add a little glamour and femininity to your everyday look.  Here are 3 simple ways to add a Tea Length skirt to your daily wardrobe:

1. This is the time to work a sassy crop top or sweater, this will create a slimmer elongated waistline

2.  Headed to the office? A tea length skirt with a cropped blazer adds a little sophistication and chicness. Don’t forget the heels. You don’t want to look frumpy.
